Battery Module Cell Voltage CAN Broadcast

Read four cell voltages from a UART bench harness, broadcast them and a computed pack summary on CAN1, and latch a fault output until a reset command arrives. Graded on the CAN frames a trusted node sees and the fault pin.

The task

Battery Module Cell Voltage CAN Broadcast

Kelvara Energy Systems bench-tests its CM-4 cell monitor node before it ships inside a grid battery module. A test harness feeds simulated cell-voltage readings over a wired UART link; the node must broadcast the readings on the module's CAN bus and flag an unbalanced or overvoltage pack for the rack controller. You are writing the node's sampling and CAN broadcast logic.

Hardware

  • STM32F407 with CAN1 on the module bus at 250 kbit/s. Bit timing, pins and frame layout: Datasheet tab.
  • UART4 carries text sample lines from the harness at 115200 baud.
  • PD12 drives the module fault indicator (high = fault).

Board support wakes CAN1; your code configures and starts it. userCode() must never return.

What you get

  • Your firmware is built and run on an emulated board and checked by hardware-level tests.
  • No development board or local toolchain needed.
