Two-Hand Press Control

On an Arduino Nano 33 BLE, start a stamping press only when both palm buttons are pressed within 500 ms of each other, stop it the moment either is released, and require both hands off before the next stroke.

The task

Two-Hand Press Control

A small metal shop runs a pneumatic stamping press. The operator starts each stroke with two palm buttons, one per hand, so neither hand can be under the die. Operators get tired and some try to cheat: one button taped down, the press worked one-handed. The controller must make that impossible. This is a programming exercise on an emulated board, not a certified safety function.

Hardware

  • Arduino Nano 33 BLE (nRF52840, 3.3 V logic). Serial console on Serial1 (D0/D1), 115200 baud. Serial is USB and is not seen by the tests.
  • D2: left palm button, D3: right palm button, each to GND. Use the internal pull-ups, LOW = pressed. The safety relay's input stage removes contact bounce.
  • D4: ram valve (relay module input), HIGH = ram moving down.

What you get

  • Your firmware is built and run on an emulated board and checked by hardware-level tests.
  • A written walkthrough of the solution.
  • No development board or local toolchain needed.
